... to make the smilies land where the cursor lies instead of always at the end of the message?

That very same thing annoys the heck out of me too. I'm positive that the same thing happens at the Mackie board and at 18Watt (before it got closed).

I'm not smart enough to know where they go while I'm typing.

PHPBB has a site as well where I will try to search out some kind of answer, but it's probably hard coded.

The Mackie forum used to place the smilies at the end but when they revamped it a year or so ago, they started landing wherever the cursor is. I don't think that's the same software as here. Or is it? I don't know. It's not that big a deal. Cut and paste solves all.

I like that you can do THIS!Smile

I hate that emoticon anomaly, too. Sexmith forum does it.

Meanwhile, hey GB, I like Minister of Propaganda! I'd also like to be Activities Coordinator someday. Idea

It turns out that it is a function of the BB SW. The Mackie forum package offers it by default. At the PHP support forum, some folks have written some code that takes care of it, but THAT code will or will not work depending on the user's browser.

Very many people are annoyed by this. If my mind ever clears, I think I could make it work for IE, Mozilla, Opera and Firefox. It's not tested on OSX Safari.

I'd need to be having a pretty good day to take it on. Coding can be too challenging at my default 1920x1200 resolution!!! I'm way out of practice, too.
